Thomson to present a range of compression solutions
Compression specialist Thomson Video Networks will demo a number of fixed and mobile contribution, video compression and ad insertion solutions at ANGA COM.
Thomson will feature a new DVB-S/S2/DSNG hot-swappable satellite modulator board for the ViBE CP6000 – its dedicated multi-format, high-performance platform for contribution of live video.
It will also display the RD6000 contribution receiver/decoder, a companion to the ViBE CP6000.
Other products to be featured at the show include the ViBE EM4000 multi-channel HD/SD encoder, which Thomson says features “new compression innovations” for both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC, providing bandwidth savings and video quality improvement for pay-TV operators.
The Sapphire MPEG Stream Server is a channel-in-a-box solution that provides all the functions needed to ingest, process, brand, and generate TV channels ready for air.
Meanwhile, its ViBE VS7000 video system combines Thomson’s compression technology with live broadcast-quality encoding, video pre-processing, and fast file transcoding.
Thomson says that version 3.0 of its MediaFlex video operating system provides a 40% increase in channel density, allowing the ViBE VS7000 to process up to 448 SD channels or 80 HD channels on a single frame.
Thomson will also demonstrate real-time and offline HEVC encoding on the ViBE VS7000 platform.
Thomson Video Networks will exhibit at ANGA COM on stand S24-10.1.
