TeliaSonera sees TV progress
The number of TeliaSonera customers taking TV services grew to 1.446 million at the end of the first quarter, up 7.2% or 97,000 year-on-year and up 17,000 on the previous quarter.
The figure represented a faster rate of growth than for broadband, where the Nordic and Baltic area telco saw growth of 5.4% year-on-year to 2.504 million.
Fixed line voice customers fell by 7.4% to 3.836 million.
TeliaSonera posted revenue of SEK8.056 billion (€885 million) for the quarter, down 2.3%, and operating income of SEK1.288 billion, up 3.8%.
Group president Johan Dennilend said that in Sweden, higher revenues for TV and broadband together with price adjustments compensated for lower volumes in traditional fixed services.
TeliaSonera-backed Lithuanian telco Teo’s TV base, excluding digital-terrestrial TV users, grew to 173,700 at the end of March, up 2.5% year-on-year.
Revenue from TV services amounted to LTL15.16 million (€4.38 million), down 1.6%.
The company’s overall share of the Lithuanian digital TV market including DTT reached 43.4%, while its share of revenue from digital TV services reached 42.9%. TV services accounted for 9% of the company’s revenue in the first quarter.
