France: more catch-up content but viewing flatlines
The number of hours of catch-up viewing content available from French TV channels increased to 15,300 in December, up 21.4% year-on-year, but the number of catch-up videos views declined slightly, according to figures compiled by the country’s Centre Nationale du Cinéma et L’Image Animée (CNC).
According to the CNC, the number of catch-up videos viewed from channels TF1, France 2, France 3, Canal+, France 5, M6 and other digital-terrestrial services in December numbered 199.2 million, down 1.1% year-on-year and down 18.6% month-on-month.
The number of internet users to have viewed catch-up programming in the last 12 months stood at 67.9% in December, also down slightly year-on-year.
Of those that watched catch-up, 63.3% did so on TV, 56.6% on a PC, 22% on a tablet and 11.8% on a smartphone.
