Mediaset acquires Champions League rights
Italy’s Mediaset has acquired UEFA Champions League football TV rights for the three seasons from 2015-18.
Mediaset has secure the exclusive live broadcast rights for its Mediaset Premium pay TV services as well as free-to-air TV.
The group also holds the rights to air repeats of matches, highlight packages and all goals the same evening, as well as the rights to show matches on all fixed and mobile devices.
Mediaset will air the top pick match from Wednesday nights free-to-air.
Mediaset did not reveal financial details of the deal, though reports suggest it may have paid around €700 million. Mediaset Premium has about 2.2 million subscribers in Italy.
