TDC TV growth compensates YouSee decline
Danish telco TDC added 5,000 TV customers to its own-brand IPTV offering and 4,000 to its re-launched Fullrate TV service in 2013, compensating for a loss of 10,000 customers by cable division YouSee.
Revenue from TV increased by 5.1% to DKK4.139 billion (€555 million). Growth came from rising ARPU in both YouSee and the TDC brand following price increases at the beginning of 2013, according to the company.
TDC expects gross profit from TV to continue to rise this year, fuelled by ARPU increases.
TDC’s Fullrate unit launched a new low-cost TV offering last October and saw its subscriber base double from 4,000 to 8,000 but with lower ARPU. TDC TV, the group’s main IPTV offering, saw strong growth, with better ARPU driven by improved penetration of additional packages and VoD.
YouSee however saw a decline in subscribers thanks to the loss of a number of antenna association agreements.
