New film channel for Poland debuts with Cyfrowy Polsat
A new film channel for Poland from channel provider SPI international-owned Kino Polska, FilmBox Arthouse, is joining pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat’s line-up of channels.
The channel will feature classic movies from directors such as Visconti, Kurosawa, Fellini and Hitchcock as well as festival circuit movies and avant-garde titles by independent filmmakers.
The channel will be available as part of Cyfrowy Polsat’s 20 channel-strong Film HD package.
“Artistic cinema and independent movies are rarely aired on commercial TV networks. We want to make FilmBox Arthouse a unique TV venue where such productions are easily accessible to movie lovers who crave watching films made by ambitious filmmakers presenting their auteur visions and unconventional approach to storytelling,” said Lukasz Bulka, director of marketing and PR for SPI International and Kino Polska TV. “We are very happy to launch our channel on Cyfrowy Polsat, Poland’s largest satellite platform and we are currently working on launching FilmBox Arthouse in other countries and continents beyond Europe.”
SPI International announced the launch of Filmbox Arthouse last year, but Poland is the first country-specific launch for the service. The service is also available for a monthly subscription on SPI’s FlimBoxLive.com portal.
Cyfrowy Polsat director of sales and marketing Beata Białkowska said that the channel was a perfect complement to the operator’s existing line-up of services.
Titles aired at launch will include Buñuel’s Un Chien Andalou, Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, Kurosawa’s No Regrets for Our Youth and Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land.
