Amedia hails online subscriber growth
Russian broadcaster Amedia’s online subscription video-on-demand service Amediatek has attracted a subscriber base of 110,000 to date, according to Amedia CEO Alexander Akopov.
As reported by local media, Akopov said the Amediatek catalogue now includes over 60 series and 200 movies, representing about 1,500 hours of content.
Akopov said that about 80% of the user base currently accessed the service via Apple devices. The service is also available on Android devices, Samsung and Philips smart TVs and via the Afisha lifestyle website. Launches on the Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox platforms are expected before the end of the year.
The service currently has agreements in place with a number of leading third party platform operators. Akopov said that he is hopeful the service will also secure carriage with the Tricolor TV pay TV platform.
Amedia reportedly expects the service to break even within four years. Subscriptions to the service range from RUB300 (€6.50) to RUB2,500 depending on the package chosen.
