YouTube launches on Roku
Google-owned video site YouTube has launched on Roku internet-connected TV boxes for the first time.
The YouTube channel is available now on Roku 3 model boxes in the UK, Ireland, US, and Canada and is due to roll out on other models of Roku player next year.
YouTube’s ‘send to TV’ feature will also let users pair their smartphone or tablet to YouTube on the Roku 3 over the same WiFi connection.
The launch comes a month after UK terrestrial broadcaster Channel 4 launched its catch-up service 4oD on Roku internet streaming boxes in the UK, joining the BBC iPlayer, Sky’s Now TV and Channel 5’s Demand 5 on the device.
