EBU partners with Net Insight for fibre upgrades

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has placed orders for modernisation and upgrades to its global fibre network from Net Insight – a provider of scalable transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks.

The EBU’s Eurovision fibre network is based on Net Insight’s Nimbra platform. The EBU said it will upgrade its global network with Nimbra 600 series media switch routers (MSRs).

Fredrik Tumegård, CEO of Net Insight, said: “EBU will modernise the network to serve broadcasters with new and additional video and data service. We support the EBU fully in its objective to adapt its network infrastructure to stay cost-efficient and flexible with guaranteed quality of service.”

The EBU is an alliance of public service media organisations, with members in 56 countries in Europe and beyond. It operates Eurovision, the distributor and producer of TV Eurovision, and is a distributor and producer of live sport and news, entertainment, culture and music content.
