Sky adds 4oD to Now TV Box
UK pay TV operator Sky has added terrestrial network Channel 4’s catch-up and on-demand service, 4oD, to its internet-streaming Now TV Box.
4oD joins the BBC’s iPlayer catch-up service and Channel 5’s Demand 5 on the device, which Sky launched in July.
Sky’s Now TV Box is a white label version of a set-top by internet TV firm Roku. Priced at just £9.99 (€11.98) it is designed to act as a low-cost way for customers to access Sky’s OTT offering Now TV from their TVs.
“Bringing 4oD on the NOW TV Box represents the latest device launch in a busy year for Channel 4 that has seen us extend our content reach to many new platforms. We’re always looking for new places we can ensure our viewers can enjoy our popular on-demand service, and are delighted to add this to the portfolio,” said Laurence Dawkin-Jones, Channel 4’s director of commercial and business development.
Speaking at the OTTtv World Summit in London last week, Sky’s product director, TV. Luke Bradley-Jones, said Now TV boxes are “flying off the shelf like hot cakes and we are well ahead of where we expected to be.”
