Google eyes Chromecast international launches
Google is rumoured to be preparing to launch its internet TV dongle, Chromecast, internationally, after posting a string of job openings relating to the device in Europe and elsewhere.
Among the positions listed on Google’s job site are London, UK based roles for a Chromecast technical account manager, and a Chromecast “developer advocate.”
Google is also hiring product marketing managers for partner retail marketing in London, Paris and Hamburg, working for a team that is developing “new designs, experiences, and technologies” to showcase the best of Google and Google-branded hardware –including Chromecast.
Outside Europe, Google is also seeking a product manager for Chromecast (international) who will be based at its Mountain View, California offices. “We are looking for a product manager who is passionate about launching consumer products in international markets,” said Google in the job ad.
The search giant is also currently recruiting for a “technical account manager” for Chromecast based in Seoul, South Korea, and a Chromecast “quality engineer” in Shanghai, China.
Google launched its low-price TV dongle stateside in June. Designed for people to stream web content to their TV set, Chromecast is priced at just US$35 (€26.50) in the US and plugs into the HDMI port of an HD TV, letting viewers use their phone, tablet or laptop to “cast” online content to their television.
