Belgacom adds 19,000 TV subscribers
Belgian telco Belgacom added 19,000 TV subscribers in the third quarter, increasing its total TV customer base to 1.447 million.
The figure marks a year-on-year increase 8%, up from 1.340 million for Q3 2012. Some 249,000 of Belgacom’s TV households now also have multiple set-top boxes, the firm said.
In terms of revenue, TV contributed €67 million in Q3, a “solid” year-on-year increase of 10.2%. This was attributed to continued subscriber growth.
“TV ARPU showed a 3.1% growth year-over-year to €18.7, supported by a price increase for rented set-top boxes since February 2013,” said Belgacom in its earnings report.
Overall in the quarter, Belgacom reported revenue of €1.568 billion, a decline of 3.2% year-over-year. Group EBITDA was €428 million, down 7.7% on the same period last year. Net income was €162 million compared to €189 million for Q3 2012.
