Telenet slows TV losses
Belgian cable operator Telenet said that it reduced its loss rate of basic cable TV subscribers to 4,100 in the third quarter, its lowest level since early 2007.
As of the end of September, Telenet said that it had a total of 2.09 million cable TV customers, 2% down year-on-year.
Of this, there were 626,800 analogue cable TV customers, down 19% compared to last year, but 1.47 million digital cable TV customers, up 8%.
The firm that it had stemmed the flow of its TV losses, despite increased competition in the market, mainly from low-end offers.
Overall in the quarter the firm reported total revenue of €410.3 million, 12% compared to the prior-year period. For the first nine months of 2013, the firm earned net income of €153.5 million, up from €31.1 million in the same period a year earlier.
