Sky Sports to share Champions League clips on Twitter
Sky Sports is working with the real-time TV clip-sharing platform Grabyo to publish clips of live Champions League games on Twitter and the Sky Sports site.
Now TV, Sky’s OTT service, will promote the clips on Twitter by using Twitter’s Promoted Tweets ad platform.
The deal is designed to increase awareness and engagement of live Champions League coverage on Sky Sports and Now TV – the latter of which offers access to Sky Sports content for £9.99 per-day.
Grabyo Studio is a cloud-based service that lets broadcasters instantly grab, edit and share clips in real-time its browser-based interface. It integrates with Twitter to allow people to view TV clips as Twitter cards without leaving the micro-blogging network.
“We know that lots of people want access to great Sky Sports content but would rather dip in and out rather than having a full subscription. Sharing UEFA Champions League clips in real-time on social platforms helps us to highlight the benefits of instant, pay-as-you-go access to Sky Sports via NOW TV,” said Gidon Katz, director of Now TV.
The initiative comes after Now TV and Sky Sports staged a successful trial using the Grabyo platform on the football transfer deadline day in September.
