Alcatel-Lucent launches ultra-broadband access solution

Alcatel-Lucent is launching a new ultra-broadband optical fibre access solution for cable multiple-system operators (MSOs).

The firm said that the new Ethernet Passive Optical Networking (EPON) solution can be integrated into existing cable access networks to deliver greater capacity to more businesses at a lower cost.

This is designed to let MSOs, particularly in North America, expand their service offerings to meet the growing data bandwidth needs of businesses, said Alcatel-Lucent.
