Hungarian OTT service to launch with Disney Movies on Demand CEE premiere

A year after its launch, Disney’s Movies on Demand subscription video-on-demand service is available to over eight million viewers in EMEA, with Hungary’s new Fuso Ecosystem OTT platform the latest to take the Disney-branded service. 

Disney Movies on Demand will launch on Fuso on October 25, making moves including Cars, Toy Story, Wall-E and Pirates of the Caribbean available to viewers.

The launch is the first for the service in Hungary and the central and eastern Europe region.

Fuso will be available on smart TV portals including those of Sony, LG and Samsung and selected Android tablets and iOS devices, with launches on the Xbox One and Sony PS4 games consoles penciled in for the near future.

The deal was mediated and negotiated by Eastwest Entertainment Pty Limited, the Australian movie and TV distribution company and Profour Film, its Hungarian subsidiary for the CEE market.

“Disney is one of the world’s most renowned studios and I am confident fuso’s subscribers will be delighted about the content, which will be available on the Fuso premium service, launching this autumn,” said Csaba Lazar, president of Fuso Ecosystem. “We feel passionate about this relationship and with the launch of Disney Movies on Demand. We are very excited to be the first eastern European country to launch such a SVoD service.”

The Movies on Demand service is currently available across 12 platforms in six EMEA countries following its launch on OSN in the Middle East and OTT service Wuaki.tv in the UK.

Meanwhile, Disney said that its kids service Disney Channels on Demand is available to 47 million subscribers across 55 platforms, while ABC TV on Demand, which launched in 2010, has seen 60 million views in EMEA this year. According to Disney, the ABC service has seen a 33% increase in reach and an 80% increase in total views this yeare following 11 new platform launches and four new country launches, most recently with Telenet in Belgium.
