Pace signs deals with Astro, Foxtel
UK-headquartered broadcast technologies firm Pace has signed deals with pay TV providers Astro in Malaysia and Foxtel in Australia, it announced at IBC.
Pace will supply its next generation wireless HD PVR to Astro, which is due to start installing the the device next month.
The PVR will include a dual-band Wi-Fi solution, enabling video and broadband content to be delivered simultaneously. It also comes with an internal hard drive and 1Gb of RAM and marks the latest Pace device to be adopted by Astro, which has been supplied by the firm since 2007.
Meanwhile, Foxtel has adopted Pace’s Elements Whole Home software, migrating from a proprietary to an open standards-based platform in a in a bid to gain more control over their service innovation and delivery.
Pace Elements will let Foxtel quickly and efficiently integrate new services onto their TV platform – including Tungsten’s modular device software, Oxygen’s HTML5 user interface framework and Cobalt’s service delivery platform.
Foxtel first started working with Pace back in 1996 and in 2007 selected Pace’s HD media servers equipped with Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) and Push VOD for its cable and satellite subscriber base.
