Belgacom picks Edgeware for multiscreen service

Belgium’s largest telco, Belgacom, has selected Edgeware to power its ‘TV Partout/TV Overal’ multiscreen service. 

Belgacom will use Edgeware’s Distributed Video Delivery (D-VDN) solution, which is designed to deliver superior scalability for live and advanced nPVR services to all screens.

Edgeware will give Belgacom subscribers access to 55 channels at home or on the go, supporting a range of devices including connected TVs, PCs, Macs, iOS and Android devices.

Customers can also use the TV Partout app to access Belgacom TV’s full Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and schedule recordings on their nPVR service, which is based on Edgeware’s IPTV technology.

Belgacom TV has a subscriber base of 1.4 million people, and claims growing success among its IPTV customers for the TV Partout app.

“Edgeware allowed us to rapidly scale, adding streaming licenses and successfully delivering live events with an uptake of 5-6 times the normal peak,” said a Belgacom spokesperson.
