D-Smart chooses Harmonic for OTT service

Turkish pay TV provider D-Smart has chosen Harmonic to provide technology to support its OTT multiscreen offering.

Doğan TV Holding-owned D-Smart chose Harmonic’s ProMedia adaptive bit-rate WFS file-based workflow and MediaGrid shared storage systems.

The technology provided by Harmonic enables D-Smart to deliver live, on-demand and catch-up content to devices including TVs, PCs, set-top boxes, smartphones and tablets.

Other technology partners for the service include KIT Digital, which is providing the content management system, Discretix, which provides DRM, and Broadpeak, which has supplied CDN infrastructure.

“Prior to this deployment, our customers were able to watch linear TV from set-top boxes.
