Nordic Choice bans porn channels

Scandinavia’s largest hotel chain Nordic Choice has removed porn channels from the pay TV service in its 171 hotels. 

The owner of the hotel chain, Petter Stordalen, said the decision was taken as he believes “it is a natural part of our social responsibility not to support industries that contribute to human trafficking.”

In Nordic Choice’s flagship luxury Oslo hotel, called The Thief, the firm has replaced the adult movies with a “selection of high-quality video art”.

The move follows Nordic Choice’s decision to introduce a ban on smoking in all its rooms in 2006, an initiative in 2008 to save areas of rainforest and the introduction of organic breakfasts in all its hotels in 2010.
