Apple buys second screen TV app

Apple has reportedly acquired second screen TV app Matcha.tv, a recommendation service that combines programming guides for online video services like Hulu and Netflix.

The deal was first reported by tech site VentureBeat, which said that Apple is thought have paid between US$1 million and US$1.5 million for the service that closed down to the public back in May. However, it added that the final acquisition price could have been higher.

The news came as billionaire investor Carl Icahn took to Twitter to reveal that he has acquired a “large position in Apple” claiming he believed the company is “extremely undervalued.”

“Had a nice conversation with [Apple CEO] Tim Cook today. Discussed my opinion that a larger buyback should be done now. We plan to speak again shortly,” said Icahn.
