Twitter co-founder calls for premium Facebook
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone has called on Facebook to introduce a premium, ad-free version of its service.
In an article where Stone sets out some of his views on the social networking rival, he suggests Facebook could charge US$10 (€7.60) a month so that “people who really love Facebook (and can afford it), could see no ads. Maybe some special features too.”
He added that if “ten per cent of Facebook signed up, that’s US$1 billion a month in revenue. Not too shabby.” Stone likened the freemium model idea to US music service Pandora, which allows users to pay a monthly fee for an ad-free experience and is the company’s biggest growing revenue generator.
