BBC Trust chairman to step down in 2015
The chairman of the BBC’s governing body, Lord Patten, has said that he will step down after his four-year term in charge ends in 2015.
Speaking at the unveiling of BBC Worldwide’s annual report yesterday, the BBC Trust chairman said “I have no present intention of seeking a second term,” though said he may consider extending his current time in charge by a matter of weeks or months if necessary to ensure a smooth handover.
The news follows what Patten described as “one of the most turbulent years in the BBC’s history,” with “some incredible highs and some desperate lows.”
