EU raids telcos as part of competition investigation
European Union officials have raided the offices of Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Telefónica as part of an investigation into whether the telecos are restricting access to the internet to companies that offer services using large amounts of data.
The raids, which began last week, are part of a competition investigation by the EU into “a number of telecommunications companies” in several EU countries over potential abuse of an alleged dominant market position. The EU did not name the companies it was investigating.
Deutsche Telekom has strenously denied abusing its position. Orange and Telefónica have said they are cooperating with the investigation.
