Vodafone agrees Sky Deutschland deal
Vodafone and Sky Deutschland have agreed a deal that will see all Sky packages launch on the Vodafone IPTV platform as of August.
The comprehensive distribution deal covers entertainment, films and sports content that users will be able to access through different Sky packages.
The sport offering includes all live matches of the Bundesliga in the Sky Fußball Bundesliga package, and all major UEFA Champions League matches, Formula 1, Golf and Tennis majors through the Sky Sport package.
A Sky Welt package includes top series, drama, comedy, documentaries, and kids programs from Germany, the US and around the world – including many that are exclusive to Sky. The Sky Film package includes current blockbusters 12 months before they are available elsewhere, uncut and commercial free, as well as older movies and US series, including Sky Atlantic HD, the home of HBO.
“The cooperation with Vodafone Germany marks the completion of marketing and distribution partnerships with all major German cable and IPTV network providers,” said Dr. Holger Enßlin, chief officer, legal, regulatory and distribution at Sky Deutschland.
Sky added that the multi-year agreement includes extensive joint marketing activities for Sky products, with customers able to book Sky packages in all Vodafone shops and online at standard prices.
The news comes less than a week after Vodafone agreed to buy Kabel Deutschland in a €7.7 billion deal that will establish the UK mobile operator as a leading triple-play cable provider in Germany – offering TV, broadband, mobile and fixed-line phone services.
