BBC to air 360 hours of digital content this weekend

The BBC is due to broadcast some 360 hours of digital content this weekend from the Glastonbury music festival, Wimbledon tennis tournament, British Grand Prix and other sporting events including the Confederations Cup.

The BBC said that the “unprecedented number of live streams” will be available across four screens – PCs, mobiles, tablets and connected TVs. For the first time, the BBC’s new Connected Red Button will also enable Virgin Media TiVo viewers to watch any of the BBC’s live streams from their TV in the house. Connected Red Button is due to launch on other connected TVs later this year.

“The BBC is also experimenting with new ways to provide a greater offering on social media than ever before, with BBC teams sharing extra clips, images and behind-the-scenes content across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr,” the corporation added.
