Verimatrix partners with Slovak Telekom for OTT security
Slovak Telekom has chosen Verimatrix to protect its new Magio GO over-the-top (OTT) multi-screen services.
The security specialists’ Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for Internet TV will be deployed.
The multiscreen security offering is designed to enhance basis HLS security, supporting subscription and transaction based pay-TV services otherwise only found in managed IPTV and DVB pay-TV systems.
VCAS ensures that decryption keys are stored securely and distributed only to authenticated devices, said Verimatrix. It added that the software-based solution is built on proven cryptographic and secure electronic transaction concepts used in e-commerce applications.
Slovak Telekom claims more than 180,000 TV subscribers. Its Magio GO service features a scalable and flexible OTT delivery platform including 22 live TV channels. The premium Magio GO Plus service also provides enhanced options like nPVR, timeshift, TV archive and TV bookmarks.
Magio GO is offered as an additional service to Slovak Telekom’s Magio TV products and relies on an advanced HTTP Live Streaming (HLS). Magio GO is available on TV, web and mobile and is based on Slovak Telekom’s MCore converged multi-screen application framework.
“In developing our new Magio GO solution, we leveraged the most advanced technologies, such as VCAS for Internet TV, to optimise the delivery and security of new multimedia and content services over unmanaged OTT networks,” said Branimir Maric, chief technology and information officer, Slovak Telekom.
