MinDig TV sees growth as Hungarian switchover approaches
Transmission provider Antenna Hungária’s MinDig digital-terrestrial service now reaches 350,000 homes, according to the company.
Antenna Hungária said that the number of subscribers to its MinDig Extra TV premium offering had now passed the 100,000 mark. The company said MinDig Extra TV was now Hungary’s fifth largest pay TV operator.
Antenna Hungária expects take-up of the offering to ramp up significantly following the country’s digital swtichover, when the Extra TV family pack will be available lthroughout the contry. The first phase of switchover will take place on July 31, when the Budapest, Győr, Kab-hegy, Szeged and Szentes districts will make the switch. The second phase, covering northern Hungary, the north-eastern Alföld and southern Transdanubia, will take place at the end of October.
The basic MinDig package comprises seven free digital channels and covers about 98% of the Hungarian population currently.
