Banaxi plans to launch VOD service in central Europe
A Cyprus-based OTT service provider, Banaxi, has unveiled plans to launch a video-on-demand service in central Europe.
Banaxi says it will specialise in offering premium video content from major film studios and larger TV companies as well as some local broadcasters and independent distributors.
The offering will include a World Cinema section with original-language content, targeted primarily at migrant users around the World.
Banaxi said it has signed agreements with connected device providers including Samsung and NetRange, which operators Smart TV portals for Sharp, Ikea, Loewe, Vestel and SES-backed HD+. It said further deals with connected TV, Blu-ray player and set-top manufacturers are in the offing. Banaxi said it is also in discussion with a number of telecom operators.
Banaxi said it would initially launch services in 15 central European countries, followed by Scandinavia, western Europe, other countries in eastern Europe, Asia, the US and Latin America.
