Liberty appoints new Virgin Media CFO
Liberty Global has named the managing director of UPC Netherlands, Robert Dunn, as Virgin Media’s next chief finance officer.
The appointment is due to be made after Liberty completes its buyout of Virgin Media, which is due to happen by the end of the second quarter.
Dunn will replace current Virgin CFO Eamonn O’Hare, who has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities, Liberty said. He will report to Tom Mockridge, the former News International chief executive who was last week named as Virgin’s new CEO. Mockridge will succeed Neil Berkett, who is also due to leave the firm after the Liberty takeover closes.
Former board member of Dutch telco KPN, Baptiest Coopmans, will take on the vacant role of MD at UPC Netherlands. He has previously worked as MD of KPN Netherlands and MD of KPN Consumer Markets.
Commenting on Dunn’s appointment at Virgin, Liberty Global president and CEO Mike Fries said: “Robert is the ideal choice for the CFO position given his deep understanding of our business following important leadership roles in the Netherlands and Ireland over the last 13 years, which make him uniquely qualified to help steer Virgin Media during its next phase of growth.”
Dunn has held a string of senior management positions with Liberty Global over the last 13 years, including MD of UPC Ireland for five years, and CFO of Liberty’s European cable division.
