Telenet’s Vorstermans to leave
Telenet chief operating officer Jan Vorstermans is to leave the company at the end of July after more than 10 years with the Belgian cable operator.
Vorstersmans, whose departure follows that of long-serving Telenet CEO Duco Sickhinghe in March, plans to use his experience to assist young entrepreneurs in their start-up phase via his own company.
His responsibilities at Telenet will be divided up between two people. Veenod Kurup will head the information technology department. A US national, he previously worked for consultancy Gandeeva and also held various posts with Cox Communications.
Geert Van Hove, currently Telenet’s chief information officer, will now serve as vice-president, business transformation at Liberty Global International corporate.
Telenet is also planning to recruit a new chief technology officer, and Kurup and the new CTO will become members of the company’s executive team.
“Despite the fact that we only met quite recently, I know that Jan has made a major contribution to the success of Telenet as its COO and as head of the networks and IT organisation. He has demonstrated his multi-faceted expertise and skills in our industry. We are very pleased with his contribution to Telenet during the past years. His decision to assist young entrepreneurs in their start-up phase via his own company will certainly be well received. We thank Jan for the great cooperation during recent years and wish him a lot of success with his new challenge,” said Telenet CEO John Porter.
