Telenet’s Vorstermans to leave

Telenet chief operating officer Jan Vorstermans is to leave the company at the end of July after more than 10 years with the Belgian cable operator. 

Vorstersmans, whose departure follows that of long-serving Telenet CEO Duco Sickhinghe in March, plans to use his experience to assist young entrepreneurs in their start-up phase via his own company.

His responsibilities at Telenet will be divided up between two people. Veenod Kurup will head the information technology department. A US national, he previously  worked for consultancy Gandeeva and also held various posts with Cox Communications.

Geert Van Hove, currently Telenet’s chief information officer, will now serve as vice-president, business transformation at Liberty Global International corporate.

Telenet is also planning to recruit a new chief technology officer, and Kurup and the new CTO will become members of the company’s executive team.
