T-Hrvatski Telekom grows TV amidst broadband and mobile gloom
Deutsche Telekom-owned Croatian telco T-Hrvatski Telekom saw its TV base grow amidst year-on-year declines in its broadband and mobile subscriber totals at the end of the first quarter.
The telco had 347,908 residential TV customers at the end of the quarter, up 7% year-on-year and 1.2% on the fourth quarter of 2012. T-Hrvatski Telekom had 313,000 residential IPTV customers, up 3.1%, 29,000 satellite customers, up 86.1%, and an additional 6,000 legacy cable subscribers. In addition, the operator had 21,000 commercial TV customers, mostly via IPTV.
The number of retail broadband customers declined by 2.3% year-on-year to 523,740, while the number of mobile customers fell by 0.8%.
The group’s revenues fell by 6.1% to HRK1.695 billion (€224 million), while EBITDA fell by 22% to HRK609 million.
March saw the extension of regulation to the Croatian IPTV market, which the operator said made Croatian home to the only regulated IPTV market in Europe. The overall size of the pay TV market in the country at the end of March was estimated to be 618,536, up 6.1%.
