EBU names new vice-chair for legal and policy committee

Simona Martorelli, Italian pubcaster Rai’s European affairs delegate, has been named as vice-chairman of the EBU’s legal and policy committee, replacing Swedish Radio’s Malte Lind, who is due to retire later this year. 

The EBU’s legal and public affairs assembly re-elected German public broadcaster ZDF counsel Peter Weber as chairman of the committee.

Other members of the committee now comprise Jürgen Burggraf of Germany’s ARD, Khalid Hadadi of UKIB/Channel 4 in the UK, Marit Ingves Bacia of Finland’s YLE, Nathalie Léger of GRF/France Télévisions, Salvatore Lo Giudice of Rai, Josef Lusser of Austria’s ORF, Todor Malezanski of Macedonia’s MKRTV, Lidia Márton of Hungary’s MTV, Milen Mitev of Bulgaria’s BNR, Olav Nyhus of Norway’s NRK, Turab Rzayev of Azerbaijan’s ICTIMAI, Per Helge Sørensen of Denmark’s DR, Ronald Vecht of NPO in the Netherlands, Daniel Wilson of the UK’s BBC and Krzysztof Wojciechowski of Poland’s PRT/TVP.

Over 70 delegates from 38 Members participated in the EBU’s fifth Legal and Public Affairs Assembly, held on April 18-19 at the EBU Headquarters in Geneva.

During the two-day session, Members debated a number of key topics, including copyright, media convergence, and Vision2020.
