Eurochannel launches in Bosnia-Herzegovina
European movies and entertainment channel Eurochannel is to launch in Bosnia-Herzegovina via local cable provider Elta-Kabel.
“The launch of Eurochannel by Elta-Kabel, the first cable provider in Bosnia-Herzegovina, is a proof that Eurochannel has been very successful in the region. Our goal is to constantly enable all the countries to have access to high quality European productions subtitled in their own language,” said Gustavo Vainstein, chairman and CEO of Eurochannel.
Elta-Kabel operates in 18 towns and cities in the Republika Srpska, the predominantly Serbian part of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and has a number of partner networks elsewhere in the country. Eurochannel replaces TV1000 in the operator’s line-up.
Eurochannel, which was created by Brazil’s Abril Group in 1994 as a showcase for European content outside of Europe, was acquired by former French cable and telecom executive Vainstein from MultiThématiques in 2004.
The channel began a European expansion plan late last year, launching on Eutelsat 16A and gaining carriage with Serbian IPTV provider Telekom Srbija.
