Hadopi analyses YouTube content
French anti-piracy regulator the Hadopi has published an analysis of content on YouTube in France that found that music clips represented 13% of total content on the site, of which about a quarter comprised “official” clips authorised by the relevant artists, distributors or production companies, while ‘media’ – comprising complete programmes and video and audio extracts originally distributed via a TV or radio channel – account for 22.18%.
User generated content accounts for 22.6% of videos, while adverts account for 12.82% and movies – whether complete or in part – for 2.75%. Of complete episodes of TV series on the site, animation accounts for just over 60%, with live action series accounting for the remainder. Music videos are by far the most popular content among users of the site.
