TiVo boosts ONO as Spanish economy takes its toll
Spanish cable operator ONO’s TiVo offering had close to 100,000 customers or 11% of its TV base at the end of last year, with almost 100% of the operator’s network now upgraded to deliver the next-generation TV service.
ONO reported that 50% of its broadband base, or 700,000 customers, now took high-speed services, defined as 30Mbps or above, while 417,000 customers took its mobile offering, with 225,000 additions recorded in 2012.
ONO said the macro-economic environment continued to be challenging, with consumer confidence decreasing significantly in 2012. The operator’s triple-play penetration took a slight dip in the fourth quarter, falling from 40.5% in September to 39.9% at the end of the year.
ONO, had 4.308 million fixed network RGUs at the end of December, down from 4.431 million at the end of 2011. However dual or triple-play penetration together stood at 86%, with overall ARPU remaining stable at €52.40 quarter-on-quarter.
ONO said it had also made good progress in the SME market, with 105,000 customers at the end of December.
Total revenues stood at €409 million for the fourth quarter, up 7.4% year-on-year, while EBITDA stood at €187 million, down 2%.
