DTG Testing wins 800MHz interference contract
DTG Testing, the UK Digital Television Group’s test centre, has won a contract to test filters that will be used to protect digital terrestrial television from interference by 4G mobile broadband signals at 800MHz.
The contract was awarded by at800, the brand name of Digital Mobile Spectrum Limited, the not-for-profit organisation set up by mobile network operators with spectrum at 800MHz to mitigate interference caused by the rollout of 4G to digital-terrestrial television. Mobile operators that were awarded 800MHz spectrum – the so-called digital dividend spectrum – are obliged to take steps to mitigate any interference caused to the Freeview DTT offering.
DTG Testing will also provide a conformance testing service for manufacturers wishing to supply filters to the retail market. Filters that pass DTG Testing’s rigorous testing will be given the rights to use the at800 logo.
