Voo, SeaChange and Zon take Cable Europe awards
Belgian cable operator Voo and technology company SeaChange took the Cable Europe Innovation Award at Cable Congress yesterday, while Jose Pascoal, planning, engineering and services architecture director at Portugal’s Zon Multimedia was presented with with the Cable Europe Fellow Award.
The second annual Cable Europe Innovation Award, voted on by delegates at Cable Congress, was awarded to Belgian operator Voo and technology company SeaChange for their multi-screen TV solution Voo Motion. The innovation won against a field that included Virgin Media’s WiFi on the London Underground, Zon Multimedia’s Timewarp, Kabel Deutschland and Arris for their record 4.7Gbps downstream throughput speed, and Liberty Global’s Horizon, done in partnership with Cisco, Samsung and Intel. Accepting the award on behalf of Voo and SeaChange was Nico Weymaere, chief technology officer at Voo.
Jose Pascoal, planning, engineering and services architecture director, Zon Multimedia was presented with with the Cable Europe Fellow Award in recognition of his individual contribution to the cable industry.
The Fellow category nominees included Kevin Baughan, director of metro wireless, Virgin Media; Reik Elftmann, director engineering, UnityMedia KabelBW; Bart Catrysse, chief engineer iDTV, Telenet; and Cor Zwart, director, next-generation technology, UPC/Liberty Global.
