Azerbaijan launches first satellite
Azerbaijan has launched its first geostationary telecommunications satellite. Azerspace-1, operated by Azercosmos, was launched from Kourou in French Guiana on board an Ariane 5 rocket at the end of last week along with Hispasat’s Amazonas 3.
Azerspace-1 will be placed in orbit at 46° East. The satellite has 24 C-band and 12 Ku-band transponders and will support broadcasting, internet, corporate data and VSAT and government applications. About 80% of the capacity will be used to serve the international market.
Hispasat’s Amazonas 3 will be placed at 61° West.
