ProSiebenSat.1 strikes deal for Lionsgate movies

ProSiebenSat.1 has picked up free-to-air TV rights and second and basic pay TV windows and video-on-demand rights to a raft of upcoming Lionsgate movies including the third and fourth instalments of The Hunger Games franchise.

ProSieben has German and Austrian free TV rights to Lionsgate’s movies in Germany and Austria.

The German free-to-air broadcast group concluded the deal through StudioCanal Germany.

Thomas Ebeling, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: “The Hunger Games is an absolutely top production from Hollywood and I am delighted that we have won the rights to the whole series for our stations. Moreover, the agreement offers us an attractive package of feature films from Lionsgate.”

As well as Lionsgate, ProSiebenSat.1 has programming deals with other studios including CBS, Disney, Paramount, Sony Pictures International, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros.
