RGB wins Czech regional DTT contract
Czech digital-terrestrial multiplex operator Digital Broadcasting has chosen RGB Networks to provide its ideo Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) and Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) to deliver the regionalised delivery of its DVB-T service on the country’s fourth multiplex.
MUX4 is the only nationwide TV transmission network in the Czech Republic that uses the H.264/MPEG-4 compression format, enabling the delivery of HD TV. MUX4 supports the multiplexing of several channels in digital format to 13 independent regions, with seven channels each, enabling the delivery of separate broadcast services to particular regions, such as Prague and Central Bohemia. The network is undergoing a major expansion project, and currently reaches 86% of the country’s population.
“RGB’s high-capacity, carrier-class architecture perfectly facilitates the regional delivery of the multiple network frequencies we need in order to meet both compliance standards and customer demands,” said Radim Parizek, CEO at Digital Broadcasting. “By performing a host of versatile tasks simultaneously via an integrated platform, RGB’s technology not only meets our current business needs, but also adds value to our long-term business strategy. We are hoping to increase MUX4’s coverage to up to 98% of the Czech population during 2013, and with this growth, we will also be looking to utilise RGB’s technology to support targeted ad insertion requirements to different regions.”
