Google close to selling Motorola’s set-top business
Google is close to selling off Motorola’s set-top box business, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The search engine giant had set today as the deadline for final bids for the business but that could be extended. A source told the WSJ that Arris, Pace and Technicolor were likely bidders, along with various private equity firms. Bids of up to US$2 billion (€1.5 million) are likely, the source said, and Google could help finance the deal.
Google acquired Motorola Mobility for US$12.5 billion in May.
