Canal Plus reports growth, but Vivendi sees overall drop
Canal Plus Group produced revenues of €3.647 billion for the first nine months of the year, up 2.4% year-on-year.
Canal Plus France’s revenues, including pay TV operations in mainland France, French overseas territories and Africa, were up by 1.6% to €3.063 billion, driven by subscription growth and increased advertising revenues. Over the past year, Canal Plus France posted a net growth of 237,000 subscriptions, including more than 170,000 subscriptions from Africa.
Canal Plus Group’s EBITA was €722 million, compared to €732 million for the first nine months of 2011, as a result of the negative impact of the French VAT rise, amounting to around €30 million.
Vivendi-owned telco SFR’s revenues were down 6.9% to €8.508 billion due to increased competition and price cuts imposed by the regulator. At the end of September 2012, SFR’s broadband internet customer base totaled 5.040 million, with 24,000 net additions in the third quarter. The quadruple play offer customer base reached 1.7 million at the end of September. Broadband internet and fixed revenues amounted to €2,959 million, a 1.2% decrease
Vivendi turned in revenues of €20.751 billion for the first nine months of the year, down 1.3%, and EBITA of €4.331 billion, down 11%.
