Exclusive: Sky to offer Premier League on Now TV next month

UK pay TV operator BSkyB will offer live Premier League football matches on its internet TV service Now TV by the end of November, DTVE understands.

The operator had planned to offer sports coverage on Now TV from November 14 but that date is likely to be pushed back by a few days.

DTVE understands that Now TV will offer access to sports coverage, including football and Formula 1, for less than £10 (€12.50) per day.

When contacted, a Sky spokesperson said that sports content would be added to Now TV by the end of the year with a different pricing model to that found on Sky’s DTH service.

Sky’s new internet TV platform Now TV launched in July as a premium movie service. Available to non-Sky subscribers, the platform targets the 13 million UK households that don’t currently pay for TV services. Now TV currently gives access to the entire Sky Movie collection for £15 per month, with customers also able to access over 1,000 catalogue titles on a pay-as-you-go basis, with movies starting at £0.99 and rising to £3.49 for the latest releases. When the service launched, Sky said it would add content from its Sky Sports channels by the end of the year, with programming from Sky Atlantic, Sky One and Sky Arts following next year.
