TV4, C More and Bonnier launch new online movie service Filmnet
TV4 Group, C More and Bonnier will next week launch a new online movies and TV series service, Filmnet, in Sweden.
The service will feature movies and shows organised by category with editorial recommendations and playlists together with search functionality, recommendations from other users and the ability to share titles with friends.
Filmnet will initially be available in a beta version for an introductory price of SEK49 (€5.70) a month. The regular price of the service will be SEK129.
Filmnet will initially be available to Mac and PC users. In mid-October, an iPad version will launch, to be followed by iPhone and Android phone and tablet versions later.
The service will show a wide range of Swedish and international films, the latter via C More’s deals with studios including Fox, MGM, Paramount, Disney, Universal, Sony and Warner Bros. Filmnet will also offer C More TV shows from HBO, Showtime, Universal, Turner, Warner, Starz and the BBC. Titles available will include Game of Thrones, The Newsroom, True Blood, 30 Rock, Weeds and Dexter.
The partners in the venture said that the goal of Filmnet was to reach out to those who had not tried a commercial-free movies and series service before. C More president Johan Kleberg said that new functions and more content would be added after the beta launch.
TV4 CEO Casten Almqvist said the launch of Filmnet showed the seriousness of the group’s commitment to be at the forefront of the future of TV.
