CME to launch new OTT services next year
European broadcaster CME is preparing to roll out new OTT and hybrid DVB-T/OTT services in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia from next year. The company has partnered with middleware specialist Alticast to support the launches.
CME is deploying Alticast’s AltiPlatform and AltiView solutions which will enable the broadcaster to launch OTT, and hybrid DVB-T/OTT services throughout its markets. AltiPlatform will be integrated with CME’s new and existing infrastructure and set-top boxes. This will enable the broadcaster to launch new services while maintaining full compatibility with existing devices, security and networks. AltiPlatform is based on open standards and can grow to accommodate new requirements, including HTML5 and future services and applications, according to Alticast.
“Central and Eastern Europe is a highly vibrant, innovative TV market,” said Claudiu Paraschiv, head of TV technologies, CME. “To succeed in this market you have to give consumers great content and services. We develop a substantial amount of our own content, which is aimed directly at the markets we operate in. Working with Alticast ensures that we will be able to offer this content to our consumers in new and exciting ways, including OTT, hybrid DVB-T/OTT offerings. We chose Alticast because of its track record of delivering exciting and innovative broadcast services as well as cutting edge user interface design, something which has become an increasingly important factor for our future success.”
