Televes chooses Sigma and httvBox for hybrid set-top

System-on-chip (SoC) company Sigma Designs has announced that set-top vendor Televes has selected Httv’s httvBox solution based on Sigma Designs’ SMP8670 SoC for a free-to-air hybrid set-top box.  

Televes is the first set-top-box manufacturer to use the combination of Sigma’s SoC and the HbbTV turn-key solution. The initial deployment is targeted to the growing hybrid market in Europe. Powered by Sigma Designs SMP 8670 chipset, consumers purchasing HbbTV devices will have access to new services from entertainment providers such as catch-up TV, video-on-demand, interactive advertising, personalisation, voting, games and social networking.
