Altibox extends Agama monitoring to OTT

Altibox, the IPTV service set up by Norwegian utility firm Lyse Tele, has extended its relationship with service quality and assurance specialist Agama Technologies to include OTT services.  

The Altibox Chill service delivers content in several different profiles to PCs, Macs and iOS devices using adaptive bitrate streaming in HTTP Live Streaming and Smooth Streaming formats. Altibox now gathers monitoring information from all Agama Analyzers and Agama Embedded Monitoring probes for IPTV and OTT video delivery into one system. Agama’s analysis engine performs QoE and QoS monitoring of ABR streaming services.

“Agama has proven to be a reliable service quality assurance partner to us over the years, and after evaluating a number of OTT video service monitoring solutions on the market it was quite a simple selection to make,” said Eivind Østerli, head of customer operations at Altibox. “With this extension of the Agama solution, we can easily connect and compare quality information for both OTT and multicast playout with QoE on set-top boxes in our network through the central Agama Enterprise Server.
