Stream TV brings glasses-free TV to market

Stream TV Networks has partnered with Chinese TV technology company Hisense to launch a 3D TV that does nor require glasses.

The first product to market will be a 42-inch 1080p Auto Stereoscopic 3D display that incorporates Ultra-D technology. The companies plan to expand the technology into devices including smart televisions, tablets and smartphones.

The Ultra-D TVs will be bundled with the SeeCube auto converter, a box that converts 2D and 3D stereoscopic video into the auto-stereoscopic 3D format in real-time. Ultra-D supports many video feed including cable and satellite TV channels, Blu-ray, XBox, PS3 and web services including Netflix, Hulu and YouTube. The technology can convert content from iPads, iTunes and Apple TVs.

Mathu Rajan, CEO of Stream TV Networks, said, “The partnership with Hisense will help in massive proliferation of the Ultra-D technology. It will be a shot in the arm for 3D without glasses. The association with Hisense will propel the 3D category and increase the reach of 3D without glasses devices in all parts of the world.”
