Canal Digital taps NDS for hosted next-gen pay TV platform
Norway-based pay TV operator Canal Digital is to launch its next-generation TV platform as a hosted managed service with NDS.
The hybrid service, combining satellite with OTT delivery, will enable Canal Digital subscribers to access content on multiple devices inside and outside the home.
According to NDS, the new service will provide a personalised experience, enabling features including viewer profiles or contextual applications, both on the main screen and devices. NDS will host the hybrid infrastructure and the service’s UI will be based on the NDS Snowflake platform.
NDS will also provide its Unified Headend, which will be situated outside Canal Digital’s network. Subscribers will be connected via a multimedia gateway and the broadcaster will also deploy multi-tuner hybrid zapper boxes. Both will be powered by NDS’ MediaHighway middleware, using Jungo Panorama remote management technology.
